Improving P2P keyword search by combining .torrent metadata and user preference in a semantic overlay

چکیده
iv Preface I would like to thank ir. M. Clements for suggesting possible directions and allowing me to think out loud with him. Discussions on why or how different similarity functions were performing allowed me to gain basic knowledge on similarity functions in a small amount of time. This was very useful at the start of this project. I would also like to thank dr. ir. J.A. Pouwelse for his comments on both the content and layout of this document. His unlimited enthusiasm was a great moti-vator, which allowed me to stay focused during the whole project.

A Hybrid Keyword Search across Peer-to-Peer Federated Databases
The need for Keyword search in databases is suggested both by Web integration with legacy database management system and by dynamic Web publication. However, it sacrifices the inherent meaning of database schema. Web search engines provide clues for resource location on the Web, but have similar semantic problems. The Semantic Web suggests an ideal solution for the semantic problem on the Web. ...
متن کاملEnabling Semantic Search in Structured P2p Networks via Distributed Databases and Web Services
First generation of overlay P2P networks had scalability problems although offering useful keyword-base searching functionality. The new generation of structured networks, based on Distributed Hash Tables (DHT), solved the scalability problem but at the same time eliminated the possibility of performing searches by proximity. This can be considered as an effective limitation as users of P2P net...
متن کاملDistributed Suffix Tree for Peer-to-Peer Search
Establishing an appropriate semantic overlay on Peer-to-Peer networks to obtain both semantic ability and scalability is a challenge. Current DHT-based P2P networks are limited in their ability to support semantic search. This paper proposes the DST (Distributed Suffix Tree) overlay as the intermediate layer between the DHT overlay and the semantic overlay. The DST overlay supports search of ke...
متن کاملLocation-Aware Index Caching and Searching for P2P Systems
Unstructured P2P networks remain widely deployed in filesharing systems, due to their simple features. However, the P2P traffic, mainly composed of repetitive query messages, contributes the largest portion of the Internet traffic. The principal causes of this critical issue are the search inefficiency and the construction of the P2P overlay without any knowledge of the underlying topology. In ...
متن کاملThe MINERVA1 Project: Towards Collaborative Search in Digital Libraries Using Peer-to-Peer Technology
We consider the problem of collaborative search across a large number of digital libraries and query routing strategies in a peer-to-peer (P2P) environment. Both digital libraries and users are equally viewed as peers and, thus, as part of the P2P network. Our system provides a versatile platform for a scalable search engine combining local index structures of autonomous peers with a global dir...
